I read one book in high school.
One.
I was assigned many books...I just chose to read one of them- "The Scarlet Letter". It was a good selection, if I had to pick one. Nevertheless, I clung to my hand-me-down editions of Cliff's Notes that once resided on my sister's bookshelves. I am not proud of this at all.
In fact, learning to read for fun is a discipline for me. I am working on it. I want to learn...I want to grow...I just don't always take the time to turn my mind away from all other distractions and just read.
That's a goal I have set this summer, though. I have 12 books to read in just 8 weeks of summer. I began today and am almost through "Quiet Strength" by Tony Dungy. I have heard Dungy speak of his faith before in relation to his work on the football field. He is inspiring and humble. I highly recommend his book.
Will be back to tell you of the other books I have selected for my summer reading pleasure!
