Should have been black...

There are so many reasons that I think I would like to be black. Here are the top ten.

I make a lot of generalizations in the following post....all from my personal point of view.
I am content being white, just think that being black would be awesome.

10. They always have fun. Even if you see them at Walmart late at night, they aren't mad...they are laughing and enjoying themselves. We white folks are grumbling about how we should be in bed and wish we hadn't had to go to the store....

9. They only have to do their hair occasionally. I really dislike fixing my hair. I have to do this at least once a day and I thought about giving it up for Lent. I would love to just "fix it and forget it".

8. Their musical abilities far outweigh ours. Their idea of singing lightly is my "belting it out". I want to have more soul.

7. Curves are IN! We white ladies tend to think that we need to weigh 100 pounds to be worthwhile....bleh. Black women, typically, are happy to be just the way they are. I love their confidence.

6. They are funnier than we are. I, unashamedly, own two Chris Rock DVD's and they are hilarious. I could watch them over and over.

5. They seem to have a bond with one another that we white folks don't. They can start talking in the line at the grocery store and seem as though they are talking with their best friend- when it might be a stranger. I love how they interact and enjoy one another.

4. I am forever trying to whiten my teeth. Theirs already look white- sheerly in relation to their skin. No Crest White Strips for them!

3. The athletic genes are AMAZING. Coming from a girl who played 4 years of intramural basketball in college and NEVER made a basket. I would love some athleticism.

2. Going along with #3...their muscles! If they do like 30 sit ups, they have a six pack! I could stop eating for two years and do "Abs of Steel" and never achieve such a look.

1. Their babies are cuter. While I know that I will think my children are cute, I really think that black children are just a lot cuter than white ones. I always have.
