Have you ever paid $200 just for hanging on to leftovers? I have.
I paid that pretty penny this week at the dentist when I had two cavities filled. Actually, it was one cavity- in between two teeth. "Shall we call it two and charge for two fillings?" the dentist asked himself. "Yes!" was his reply.
So...double the money, double the pain. I sat, pretending to watch the flat screen TV that was hinged above my mouth. Unfortunately, each time I tried to see what Tyler Florence was cooking, I also saw wrench-like equipment moving toward my propped open jaw.
Don't get me wrong, I love my new dentist. (However, I felt I deserved more of a pat-on-the-back when I told him that I have worn my retainers for 18 years. He didn't seem as impressed as I would have liked. It's usually my apple-for-the-teacher move.)
All of this to say....( I know...get to the point!) I have learned a lesson. Only 60% of effective teeth cleaning is done through brushing. 40% is from flossing ALONE. I don't floss unless there is something stuck in my teeth, so I am making a new habit.
Here is my new find....they are making a "flosser' out of me! They are called GUM soft picks. They look like mascara brushes and make flossing super easy and non invasive. Give them a try!
Wow. I've learned something new! I too don't floss (can't believe I admitted that!). I do on occasion (okay, like the week before I go to the dentist!). I'll have to pick up these GUM soft picks. Maybe it'll get me to floss!
ReplyDeleteI thought you were an avid flosser. I think I floss once every two weeks or so. Ugh. So the blush on this new apparatus goes between your teeth? I'll have to try it.
ReplyDeleteI bet your dentist noticed your beautiful pearly whites even thought he didn't act too impressed. He was just bluffing.
