Halloween irks me.
Why must people use this holiday to become trashier than they normally are? I can't get past it! Halloween, to me, has always been a time to enjoy the things that Fall offers and creative attempts at costume design. A few years back, I was a teacher. I took all of the cheesy apple-y things that I had accumulated over the years I had taught and wore them with a cross-stitched vest and long Amish-type skirt. I thought it was a clever way to honestly tell my students that I have worn and "enjoyed" their gifts. Two of my dear Memphis friends were "The brothers Simmons" that same year. Gene and Richard Simmons might not be brothers, but they make for great Halloween costumes!
It frustrates me to see people turn in their normally conservative selves for "French Maids" or "Bunnies" in order to get attention for their mini skirts and low cut shirts.Just thought I would vent. Keep your morals and keep your clothes on!
I must admit I am setting my morals aside for a few hours at Lane and Ben Clanton's house. I am donning a Willson's former Hutchison skirt while Hunter wears his old MUS letter jacket. We'll be the pregnant high school couple. Don't worry, this is not being worn to any function that children (well, children who are old enough to get it) will be at.
ReplyDeleteLast year Ryan and I went as a shooting star. Ryan had a toy gun and I wore a star. Tucker "loves" to dress up as the Halloweiner. Sadly, he didn't get to go to school this year and read the book
ReplyDeleteTonight, I went as a fortune teller. Is that sacrilegious? ;-) It definitely wasn't revealing. Thanks for the photo from the archives!
